Introduction

DriverPay® is our own driver payments platform for UK taxi and private hire operators. It gives each company a branded portal where drivers can pay rent, upload their documents and read announcements from their phone, while the office manages everything from one admin panel.

The Challenge

Working with taxi operators over the years, we kept seeing the same problem. Rent, licence renewals, insurance and MOT certificates were being chased through phone calls, WhatsApp messages and paper records, which took up hours of office time and made it easy for things to slip through. Off-the-shelf tools didn’t fit the way taxi companies work, and building custom software for each operator wasn’t realistic.

Our Solution

We designed and built DriverPay as a multi-tenant platform, so every company gets its own branded subdomain, logo and colours, with its data kept in a separate database. Drivers log in with their licence number to check their balance, pay rent online through Stripe or WorldPay and upload documents, while operators approve documents, get expiry alerts, send announcements and run financial reports.

Implementation Process

DriverPay was built mobile-first, because drivers use it on their phones between jobs. Card payments are handled by the payment gateways, so card details never touch our servers, and every action is logged for auditing. We added integrations with iCabbi and Autocab so driver balances and details stay in sync with the dispatch system, cutting out double entry. Royal Cars uses DriverPay through its iCabbi system. Alongside the platform we built driver-pay.co.uk to explain how it works and let operators book a free demo. We look after onboarding, which typically takes a few days, along with technical support and ongoing updates.
